It takes twice as long to say w.w.w. as it does to say world wide web.

it takes twice as long to say w.w.w. then it does to say world wide web

Dads, have you ever noticed how “World Wide Web” is a really long word compared to the internet? And yet, we always say it faster. Why is that? It’s probably because we’re so used to saying it! But have you ever stopped to think about why it’s called the “World Wide Web?” Turns out, it takes twice as long to say w.w.w. than it does to say world wide web! Crazy, right? We’ll never look at that acronym the same way again!

Deer were once so common in Michigan that their skin was used as currency.

deer were once so common in michigan that their skin was used as currency, hence the term ‘a buck’

Did you know what deer were once used for in Michigan? It wasn’t as a main course at a fancy restaurant or to fill out the population of a game preserve. Nope, deer were actually used as currency! Seriously! Skin from the animals was traded by settlers for goods and services. Can you imagine trying to pay for your groceries with venison meat? Now that would be one tough checkout line!

Thankfully, modern-day currency has replaced shed antlers and hide, but it’s still pretty cool to think about how integral deer were to early Michiganders’ lives. So the next time you’re out in the woods and see some bucks grazing in the meadow, remember that these graceful creatures played an important role in the state’s history
